Btrust Chinese Supermarket Grand Opening

An apple a day keeps the doctor away but Btrust owner and operator, Mr. Yi Kui He, chose the fresh green apple to symbolize his commitment to the community that his supermarket will maintain the highest standard of freshness for all the groceries sold in his 52,000 sq. foot store.

Btrust held its grand opening at the front entrance of the newly-renovated store in warm and bright sunshine. Peel Police Chief Mike MetCalf, Mr. Stephen Chu (the president of the Mississauga Chinese Business Association), Mr. Victor Oh (the Vice Chair for SafeCity Mississauga), the property management, and the Mr. Jiang Dianchang Vice Consul of the People Republic of China were all present for the opening. After the ribbon cutting, Northern Lion performed their ritual Lion Dance to ensure both prosperity and good luck for the new store.

Btrust took over the management of the former H & H supermarket last year in November and undertook a major renovation to modernize the store. Today, the store’s ultra-modern looks and excellent organization should serve its new customers well. And, although Mississauga is home to numerous large and modern Chinese supermarkets, the newly-renovated Btrust store is a standout. The customers that the new supermarket attracts will benefit not only Btrust, but also all the other shops in the vicinity.

At 8:00 in the morning, Mayor Hazel McCallion was busy cheering for the many participants in the Terry Fox Run For The Cure at Port Credit as they started their race. Immediately following this, she headed over to the Memorial Park to help serve the pancake breakfast. All proceeds from the pancake breakfast (and from all the other Southside Shuffle events) benefit the Credit Valley and Trillium Hospitals .

Mr. Mike Bullard and Mr. Victor Oh (Vice Chair SafeCity Mississauga) were on hand to lead a group of volunteers who flipped pancakes to feed the hordes of hungry jazz lovers who were there to enjoy the festivities.

This year’s pancake breakfast raised approximately $2,500. Tickets for the breakfast were $5.00 each. While the pancakes were being served, the Ambience singers directed by Danny McErlain were serenading the crowd with their beautiful choral music on the South Stage.

Chile Versus Venezuela soccer game at ESC

The world cup match may be a year a way but it sure seems like world cup day on Saturday September 5th 2009 at Executives Snooker Club and the Lost Lounge in Mississauga, on 1777 Central Parkway. A huge crowd of about 300 strong Chilean soccer fans was on hand to cheer their home team again Venezuela. Surprising the crowd was there as a result of a face book communiqué. The facebook was started by Anibal Mejias in 2007 for the CANADA Under 20’s game held in Toronto. However, over the past week it was used to announce to the Chilean soccer fans about the gathering for the Chile verse Venezuela South American qualifying games on Saturday September 5th 2009. Chile desperately needed to win this game to help them qualify for their region but play to a 2-2 draw. Their next game is against world best Brasil.
