For many women experiencing menopause, hot flashes, night sweats and disrupted
sleep is a reality…but there is one significant symptom that is kept under the covers. Lesser known reality is that up
to 75% of postmenopausal women are suffering from the symptoms of vaginal
atrophy (VA). Vaginal
atrophy (VA) is a chronic condition, where the
vaginal walls become thin, fragile and inflamed due to a reduction of
estrogen.
It’s not common
for women and doctors to discuss such symptoms, and yet there are effective
treatments. That’s why Dr. Brown will be speaking at an educational public
forum on May 15 in Mississauga, Ontario –
Living Arts Centre, where a group of women are invited to learn about VA,
and most importantly, learn how speaking to a doctor can improve their quality
of life.
Women are invited to join Dr. Vivien Brown, MDCM, CCFP, FCFP, NCMP,
NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner, Vice President, MEDISYS Health Group,
Inc., as she says that it is normal for women to experience
symptoms of VA such as itching, burning, irritation and painful intercourse, but
that they are not symptoms often discussed.
