Mississauga City Celebrate the 2012 Water Dragon Chinese New Year

January 23rd. 2012 at the Main Hall in Mississauga City Hall.

Traditionally the Chinese belief that the Dragon though a creatur of myth and legend was colourful and exotic. It is a symbol of good fortune and emblem of power. Unlike it western malevolent  monster counterpart the Oriental dragon is regarded as a sacred beast. The charecteristics of people born under the Dragon sign, which recurs once every 12 years are the free spirit and a law unto themselves. Dragons need to be as free as the wind and the clouds that are their domain. Dragons, one way or another, usually make it to the top. However the downside for the Dragon is they must be aware of their natures because too much enthusiasm and too much beating of the Dragon wings can leave them exhausted and their ambitions unfulfilled. Similarly the Dragon prides can prevent them from accepting help from others when badly needed.

2012 is the Water Dragon year. Water has a calming influence on the Dragon's bold and fiery temperament. It may not be able to quench the Dragon fire but it enables the dragon to direct it more thoughfully, and makes this kind of  Dragon more sensitive to others and more cooperative.

Like every Chinese New Year the Mississauga Chinese Business Assoxiation and its members along with the Mississauga City council gather annually at the main hall in the Mississauga City Hall to usher in the Lunar Waterr Dragon Chiese New Year. togather with the Vietnamese, Korean New Year celebration. With much appreciation to our Ocean's Supermarket for their annual sponsorship to provide lunches for those attending the celebration.
